Why We Exist

Capital Asset Recovery was founded to help individuals reclaim funds lost from foreclosure and other government-held unclaimed assets. Government agencies across the U.S. collectively hold over $70 billion in unclaimed funds, often making minimal effort to notify rightful owners due to a conflict of interest—they may retain the funds if left unclaimed and accrue interest on the amount in the meantime.

Agencies often don’t notify owners due to 'escheatment' laws—if a claim isn’t filed in time, the funds are forfeited. Agencies may send a single mail notice; if it’s returned, they consider their duty fulfilled. Many people lose their money this way. Our goal is to prevent that.

These assets include not only foreclosure proceeds but also old bank accounts, dividends, insurance claims, inheritance, escrow funds, and more. Capital Asset Recovery bridges the gap between these agencies and rightful claimants, ensuring your money gets back to you.

What We Do

Capital Asset Recovery navigates legal and procedural hurdles to recover your funds quickly. We cover all costs upfront (legal, court, bank fees). If we’re unsuccessful, you owe nothing. We handle everything from home visits to paperwork submission and updates—no need to leave your home.

Capital Asset Recovery is licensed in California, Texas, Colorado & Florida. Originally created to help victims of foreclosure, we now recover a broad range of unclaimed funds. Our mission: resolve the conflict of interest between agencies holding your money and rightful ownership.

Four-Step Process

1. Contact & Verification: We reach out after confirming funds are owed to you. Once verified, we’ll gather your ID and sign documents (done during a home visit).

2. Document Submission: We submit your claim, confirm the amount and ensure no other liens exist.

3. Collaborate with the Entity Holding your Funds: The process can be complex and costly—but we cover those expenses. It may involve navigating probate proceedings, coordinating with divorce attorneys, encouraging family members to communicate and reach agreement, and applying pressure on government agencies to keep the process moving forward so that funds are released in a timely manner.

4. Payment to You: Once the claim is approved, we cut and overnight you a check.  From beginning to 'check-in-hand' typically takes 1–4 weeks, though some may take up to 3-months if court approval is needed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why wasn’t I notified?
A: Agencies often profit if claims go unfiled and put forth minimal effort to contact you.

Q: Is this legal?
A: Yes. You're legally entitled to claim what’s rightfully yours and hire a firm to help.

Q: Is this a scam?
A: No. We never ask for upfront fees and pay all costs ourselves. This could include court filing fees, attorney retainer (if probate is necessary), courier fees, notary fees, etc.

Q: Can I do this on my own?
A: Yes, but it can be complex. Claims are scattered across many sources and sometimes hard to find.

Q: What’s the refund amount? Who’s holding it?
A: We need your documents to determine exact figures and source details.

Q: How did you find me?
A: We use public records, assessor’s offices, county & circuit courts, postal databases and other proprietary tools.

Q: Can someone else handle this for me?
A: Yes, a trusted person can assist—but you’ll need to sign documents yourself.

Q: Do I need to decide now?
A: No, but waiting can lead to forfeiture or the funds being transferred to another government department/agency. Time is crucial.

Q: What’s next?
